Thanksgiving hasn’t always been a holiday. In 1863, with the country devastated by the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday. He hoped the holiday would bring unity to the country – with families and communities giving thanks together.

Did you know that 54 million Americans will travel this thanksgiving to be with friends and family?

  • 48.5 million people will travel by car
  • 4.3 million people will fly
  • 1.5 million will travel by train, bus or cruise ship!

But these aren’t the only big numbers at Thanksgiving!

  • 46 million Turkeys will be gobbled up!
  • 50 million pumpkin pies will be devoured
